• Nick speaking at Horse-O-Rama 2002 in Fort Worth.

  • Watch for Nick's story on legendary Native American saddlemaker Mervin Ringlero in the Feb. issue of Shop Talk Magazine. Mervin made many saddles for cowboy stars in the fifties and sixties such as Richard Boone and James Arness.

  • Nick will again be putting on a demonstration on selecting the correct roping saddle at the TSPRA Roping School in McGregor, Texas on March 20-21. Dave Brock, Kelly Wampler, Brad McReynolds and Todd Parks will be the roping instructors.

  • For the first time in 18 years, Nick won't have a booth at the National Reining Horse Futurity. We hate to miss it , but we are behind in our orders and for the last few years we haven't had time to make much to bring up there. We decided that to maintain our level of quality, and serve our customers the best, that we needed to stay home and fill orders. It's difficult to be both a producer and a retailer at the high end custom level.

Nick's good friend, Donn Leson, should be in our old booth space. We have had some of Donn's saddles for sale in our booth for the last couple of years,(as well as Donn). Another of Nick's friends, Ray Maheu of Maheu Bit and Spurs, will have a couple of used Pernokas Reining saddles for sale in his booth.

  • Nick recently spent the afternoon with King Ranch saddlemaker, Roberto Salas, in Kingsville, Texas. You can read about the King Ranch tradition of saddlery, and what they did to make their saddles stand up to the South Texas range in the December issue of Shop Talk Magazine.
