The Benton Moore/ Richard Stowers Roper  name stamp on the latigo holder of this 16 inch roping saddle indicates that this is the perfect saddle for team roping or day working. This saddle has been used by a cowboy for ranch work, but although it's been used, there's a lot of saddle left. The leather is in good condition, as is the tree. The leather horn has been twisted slightly from dallying, but does not need repair. If you need a stout roping saddle to go to the pasture then this is the saddle for you. 3 1/2 inch cantle and  3 1/2 inch horn.

This 14-1/2 inch Carl Ammerman roping saddle is like new. Owner sold out all of his equipment and this is the last to go. Tree was made in Wilford Lewis's shop prior to his death and owner had Carl Ammerman personally make the saddle on it. It features an inskirt rigging for less bulk, a 3-1/4 inch horn, a 3 inch cantle, and 3/4 oak carving which was done by hand.This is a nice custom saddle at a nice price.

This 15 inch used Pernokas Reiner is in really good condition. The seat has a real nice pocket to stop in. It is a 3/4 waffle stamp, with solid sterling silver conchos  and corner plates with solid sterling raised borders. The plates were built by our silversmith from Nick's drawings. The hardware is all handmade by Glenn Pointer, and a matching breast collar with his hardware on it is included. All this and a padded saddle carrier bag.

This used Price McLauchlin is one of the cleanest we've seen in a few years. It is a full floral carved, has a 15 1/2 inch seat, and someone did a nice job putting a new padded seat in.  This saddle is collectible, but would make an excellent using saddle too. Good condition.

This used 15 inch Pernokas Reiner is made in our traditional style with oversize butterfly skirts. The silver is all solid sterling with a raised solid sterling border. The corner plates were made for us from Nick's drawings so they are unique . If you've priced solid sterling lately, then you know what they're worth. The hardware was handmade by famed Texas bitmaker Glenn Pointer, and the back dees were then covered with sterling. The 3/4 basket stamped saddle has a smoothout seat jockey and fender. All of the leather is Muir and McDonald, the historic tannery in Oregon that is now out of business. This leather was known for its suppleness and its rich brown color. Great condition, and ready to go to a show. Silver engraved stirrups included.

For all of you who have wanted to try an Ortho Flex Saddle without spending a lot of money, this is your chance. This 14 1/2" Ortho Flex Roper is being sold by the owner for health reasons, but he says it fits all four of his horses. The seat feels really good, and the 14" swell really gives you something to lean on. A 4" cantle provides security, and the 3 1/4" horn would work for roping calves or steers. This is one of the original Ortho Flex saddles. 3/4 basket stamped. Good condition.

This mint condition R.E. Donaho (of San Angelo) saddle is both collectible and usable. It was made by Donaho for the current owner and has been well taken care of. With a 16 3/4 inch seat and a 3 inch cantle, it could be used for "day working" or as an extra work saddle.

It has 7/8 floral tooling,inskirt riggings, a rough out seat jockey with no padding, and a matching floral breast collar. This is a real cowboy saddle.

Used 14 inch Mexican Roping Saddle

This 14 inch roping saddle is almost brand new. It was custom made for a local family by a Mexican saddlemaker and he put their son's name on the cantle. Unfortunately the boy soon outgrew it and had to trade up. This saddle is the same style as many current roping saddles,very neatly made, and features a 7/8 basket stamp with a barbwire border. The rough out seat jockey and padded seat provide extra security.  This would be a great starter saddle for a young cowboy at a reasonable price.

This 15" Pernokas saddle is one of a kind. Nick built it for himself to rope calves and steers and to ride reiners in. The saddle fits a horse like his reining saddles and the fenders and stirrup leathers are hung to allow plenty of forward movement. The inskirt rigging provides less bulk and stays out of the way of your legs. Nick reshaped his reining swell to put the rope closer to the withers.The roping bars are fiberglass reinforced for roping. The Glenn Pointer handmade hardware shows up against the dark Muir and McDonald Leather which is soft and oiled dark. (Muir and McDonald leather came from Oregon and is no longer in existence).The 3 1/2" cantle and 3" horn work well for either roping, reining, or just riding your two-year-olds.The saddle is tooled in a 3/4 basket stamp, with a rough out seat jockey and fenders. The padded seat is rough out with no quilting. The saddle shows that it has been ridden but is in good condition. There is a small, 1" scratch next to the second loop dee on the swell. This saddle is just "broken in" and has been cleaned, oiled and refinished. Comes with new stirrup leathers, your length.

For Sale: Frenchy Jet , 21-year-old calf roping horse. Nick has owned Frenchy (Cool Frenchy x Enchant An Angel) for nine years. He has been hauled to many horse shows and rodeos in that time. Nick won the 1999 year end high point AQHA Am. Breakaway on him, a number 2 USCRA shootout  position on him, the 2006 SCRA Finals on him, and placed in many PRCA rodeos on him. He is still competetive and Nick recently (in 2008) won the Commanche Buckle Series on him.

This  15-3/4  inch used Pernokas All Around saddle is ready to go down the fence in a cowhorse class, but it's also reinforced with fiberglass in case you want to rope something. The seat is suitable for cutting, but the fenders will give you enough freedom for reining. This saddle is waffle stamped with a "Wildfire" flame border on the back around some floral carving on the skirt and backhousing. The flame borders were inspired by the wildfires in the Stephenville area at the time Nick built this saddle. The hardware was hand made by famed West Texas bitmaker Glenn Pointer, and the rear dees are covered by Tim Moore's filigree silverwork.The conchos are solid sterling silver, with another layer of Tim's sterling floral filigree which creates a 3-D effect. This saddle is in good condition but has been used. There is a scuff on the right side of the swell, one on the left side of the padded seat and a few stitches on the cantle binding have been rubbed slightly. That's why this saddle, which should sell for a lot more, is only $4000.

Used 15 inch Pernokas Saddle

This used 15 inch Pernokas Saddle is a classic. We built it for a Texas Ranger that showed cowhorses in 1990. Functionally it is built with a double covered roping tree, and full stirrup leathers. The deep seat for reining is a copy of an old Amye Gamblin that he had. With the 3 inch cantle, it's very comfortable.

The saddle is 3/4 carved with the Fort Worth Oak pattern. The seat jockey and fenders are rough out with the old Muir and McDonald leather that isn't made anymore. The hardware was made by Seminole Bit and Spur Company and has their name on it. They are not in existence any more. Saddle comes with a full carved team roping breast collar and a wide roping flank. Was kept in living room when he wasn't showing with it so leather only looks a couple of years old. Excellent condition.

The fenders are designed for a reining style feel, the skirts are cut out under the leg for close contact, and the bars are reinforced with fiberglass for roping. The leather is oiled to a dark chestnut color and Nick's tooling combines a floral pattern with a flame border which we call "Wildfire". The stainless steel hardware was handmade by Glenn Pointer, and the back dees have been overlaid in silver floral filigree by Tim Moore.
